Dr. Meier is dedicated to providing the best quality eye care to all of his patients.  He uses his 15 years of private practice experience, the excellent training he received from both a highly regarded medical school and residency program, along with research and numerous continuing education courses.   He is dedicated to providing complete eye care in a positive and enthusiastic environment.  His completely renovated office features some of the newest and most advanced technologies which aid Dr. Meier in diagnosing and managing eye diseases, whether rare or common; simple or complicated.

Douglas Meier, MD is practices comprehensive ophthalmology and sees patients with a wide range of eye conditions. He has extensive experience with the treatment of glaucoma, corneal disease and a special focus on retinal disorders such as diabetic disease of the retina and age-related macular degeneration.  He is extremely proficient in the usage of medical laser treatment for these and other conditions.   Dr. Meier was named one of the top 5 ophthalmologists in the Portland area by the Portland Monthly magazine in 2013.  He was honored at the recognition of his hard work.  Dr. Meier, while having the most up to date equipment and resources available to him still strongly believes what was taught to him while in medical school at the University of Iowa, which is… if you listen closely to what the patient has to say, you will likely have the diagnosis before ever examining the patient.
